About

My name is Adithi Jenigiri

My name is Adithi Jenigiri, I'm a High School student in Eastern Iowa and I created Safe.Med.Drop. Safe Med Drop is a community-focused initiative dedicated to protecting public health by making medication disposal easy, accessible, and responsible across Iowa. Its goal is to reduce antibiotic resistance by organizing convenient pickup events for old or expired medicines, keeping them out of toilets, trash bins, and wastewater systems. When antibiotics are flushed or improperly discarded, they enter water, soil, and eventually our food supply—creating constant low-dose exposure that accelerates the rise of resistant bacteria. By giving families a simple and safe way to dispose of unused medications, Safe Med Drop helps preserve antibiotic effectiveness, safeguard the environment, and support healthier communities for the future.
